TO THE HONORABLE THE JUDGES OF THE THIRTEENTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT COURT IN AND
FOR THE PARISH OF RAPIDES AND STATE OF LOUISIANA.
- - - - - - - - The petition of Olive Aaron, femme sole, of Camille Aaron, femme sole, of Robert Aaron, an emancipated minor, and of Mary Aaron, a minor, herein represented by Edwin L. Aaron, her duly qualified tutor, being the children of the issue of the marriage of Mike Aaron and Mary Foisy, both deceased; of Bertha Lucille Aaron, femme sole, and of Tema Aaron, Herman Aaron, and Henry Aaron, Jr., minors, children of the marriage of Henry Aaron and Harriet Housman, both living, and appearing herein representing their minor children; of Lester Aaron and Vernon R. Aaron, both minors, and children of the marriage of Edwin L. Aaron and Adelle (sic) Richards, appearing herein representing their minor children; of Henry Aaron and his wife Harriet Aaron, born Housman; of Edwin L. Aaron and his wife Adele Aaron, born Richards; of Mrs. Hannah O. Aaron, widow of Robert Aaron; all petitioners above named being residents of the Parish of Rapides and State of Louisiana, who with respect represent:- -1- That they and each of them desire to change their present family name of Aaron to that of Adrion, for the following reasons to-wit:- -2- That all of the above named petitioners, children of the several marriages above set forth, have been baptised in, and are practicing the tenets of a Christian religion, the children of the said Mike and Mary Aaron, as well as those of Henry and Harriet Aaron, professing and practicing the Roman Catholic faith, and the children of Edwin and Adele Aaron professing and practicing the Episcopal faith. -3- That the mothers of each of the children, issues of the several marriages above set forth, were born Christians, and profess and practice a Christian religion, the children being reared in the same religion as that professed and practiced by their mothers. -4- That while the above named petitioners, the children of the marriages as above set forth, love honor and respect the name of their fathers, that they have suffered unnecessary confusion of religious identity by reason of the name which they bear, and that as they desire to go through life as Christians, and desire to be recognized as such, they desire to be relieved from the unnecessary explanations arising as above set out by adopting the name of Adrion for themselves in lieu of the name Aaron in which they were baptised. -5- Your petitioners Henry and Harriet Aaron, and Edwin and Adele Aaron, respectfully show the court that yielding to the desires of their children and feeling that the reasons urged by them for a change of name are good, valid and sufficient, desire that their names should likewise be changed, in order that there should be no difference between their names and those of their children, and for this reason respectfully ask that their names be changed from Aaron to Adrion. -6- And your petitioner, Mrs. Hannah O. Aaron, respectfully shows that she married the grand-father (sic) of the children appearing as petitioners herein, and bears for them great love and affection, and has in a large measure assisted in their rearing, and in view of the fact that she was born of Christian parents and practices a Christian religion, shows that she would like to retain her identity with that of the children above named, and for this reason, desires to change her marriage name from that of Aaron to that of Adrion. WHEREFORE, petitioners pray that a copy of this petition and citation to answer the same be duly served upon the Honorable Cleveland Dear, District Attorney for the Parish of Rapides, and that after due proceedings had, that there be judgment herein authorizing all of the petitioners each (the latter was handwritten in) named Aaron, as above set out, to change their names and issue of their names, to that of Adrion, which shall be the true and lawful name of your petitioners after the publication required by law. And your petitioners further pray for all orders necessary and proper in the premises, and for general and equitable relief. /s/ Hakeny(?), Hunter & Scott Attorneys for Petitioner. /s/ Camille Aaron /s/ Olive Aaron /s/ Mary Aaron /s/ Edwin L.
