   BROWN – At the residence of Mrs. Ellen GRIFFIN, corner of Sixth and Scott streets, Alexandria, La., on Thursday, February 27, 1913, at 1:15 p.m., aged 59 years, six months and one day. The funeral will probably take place on Saturday, the hour to be announced after his sister and brothers are heard from.

  The deceased leaves a devoted widow, three brothers and a sister. He was born in Green Brier County, Virginia, August 26, 1853, and came to Rapides parish over thirty years ago. Was married in 1887, his wife being Mrs. Nettie Shumake, a daughter of the late W.A. GRIFFIN. His brothers are Dr. Archie E. BROWN and Dr. Hunt BROWN of El Paso, Texas and Dr. Frank BROWN of Roswell, New Mexico. His sister is Mrs. A.H. DONALD, of Evergreen, Alabama.

  Dr. BROWN had been in ill health for several months, but his death was sudden and unexpected. He was considered much improved this morning, but death came suddenly and without warning at 1:15 p.m.

  The bereaved widow and other relatives have the sincere sympathy of a large circle of friends.

  Dr. BROWN was a member of the Methodist Church. Alexandria Lodge No. 546, B.O.P. Elks will assist in the funeral services, the deceased being a member of that order.
