Looking for information on Wilson HENDRIX, b. about 1849 in AL, d. 1932 in Polk Co., TX, m. Sarah Jane ?KNIGHT in Rapides Parish, LA about 1872 or 1873. Their daughter Mary Francis HENDRIX was my g. grandmother. She was b. July 1873 in Rapides Parish, LA. Other children of Wilson HENDRIX: William T. HENDRIX, b. abt 1874 in Rapides Parish, LA, and Octavia HENDRIX b. about 1879 in Rapides Parish. Listed on 1880 census. First wife of Wilson HENDRIX was Mary E. ? (last name unknown). Their children were August A., George M., b. 1885 and Cornell, b. 1887. I may have the children mixed up as to mothers. Any help would be appreciated.

DEARBORNE, Louis. b. in Natchitoches Parish, La (date unk.) and d. in Lena Station in Rapides Parish, LA ( date unk.) m. Hester CARNAHAN of Natchitoches,LA (date unk.) They had 14 children: Houston, Pullmon, Peter, Paul, Sarah, Sallie, Mammie, Louis Jr, Celestine, Lucy, Tenie, John, William, and Willmon. Louis served with the US Colored Troops 4 Cavalry Co. A during the Civil War. In 1894, he founded the Grant Chapel A.M.E. church in Lena, LA. I am also trying to find the man whom I believe was his father. His name, too, was Louis DEARBORNE. This Louis also fought in the Civil War, but for the CSA. He is buried in Carnahan National Cemetery in Rapides Parish.

Seeking info on the parents of Thomas Jefferson ARMITAGE (my g-grandfather). He was born 22 Feb 1842 at Alexandria, LA, fought in Civil War (wounded at Gettysburg),md Theotis BERLIN in 1872/73 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church at Marksville, LA, and died 22 Mar 1916 at Marksville. The 1850 U.S. Census for Rapides Parish shows a Tom ARMITAGE who was 42 in 1850 and was born in NY. He was associated with a Louisa READY. I suspect this is the father of TJA. Will be happy to exchange data.

I am researching the history of the FIRST LOUISIANA CAVALRY REGIMENT, CONFEDERATE STATES ARMY. One of the Companies of the 1st La. Cav. was the RAPIDES RANGERS, Company D, of Rapides Parish. Staff Officers of the Company were-John Routh WILLIAMS, Emile ENETE, J.A. CULBERSON, Thomas CLAMENTE, Henry H. PARKER. Anyone having info. concerning troopers that served in the Rapides Rangers or the 1st La. Cavalry,such as enlistment/discharge papers, letters, diaries, etc., are requested to contact me. Any expense incurred with these requests will be gladly refunded. Any inquiries concerning one's ancesters being troopers in the 1st La. Cavalry Regiment will be answered.

I am looking for the James and Reuben WHITE family. The branch that I am related to came to Texas 1823. Widow, Elizabeth WHITE came to Texas with her sons and their families, Martin, James and Benjamin. Also coming at the same time were member of the WILLIAMS and EARL families who had married into the White family.

William Wrightman MONROE, 7/4/1855, m: Margaret WELLS, Dr.George Mason MONROE, b 1859, m:Martha THIELEMANN, Jefferson Davis MONROE Nov 11, 1861, John MONROE twin to Jefferson died young in Alabama. All these children were born in AL and all moved and to LA and married here except for the first two sons to which I cannot find.
