COMPTON, FRENCH, HICKMAN posted by Peyton Carter on Thursday, May 13, 1999

HICKMAN Family: I am looking for the HICKMAN Family of Alexandria, Louisiana. All I really know about them is that Frances (Fannie) Hickman married Col. Thomas Barton FRENCH in Alexandria in 1865. They eventually left Louisiana in 1891 for Newport News, Virginia. Fannie Hickman was borm in 1839 in Louisiana and died in Virginia on Nov. 7, 1904. I am interested in determining who Fannie's parents and siblings were. She may have had a sister named Marion. Thomas Barton French had a brother who lived in Alexandria, Dr. George Edward French, a prominent physician of those parts. The Doctor had married a Miss COMPTON. Any information on the Hickmans would be useful.

VICKERY, VICKREY posted by Richard Vickrey on Monday, June 14, 1999

I am interesting in information regarding Littleton VICKREY who purchased land in Rapides Parish on August 30, 1837 (Bureau of Land Management record). Joshua VICKERY was recorded in the 1810 Rapides Parish census; and John VICKERY was listed in the 1850 Rapides Parish census. The three names may be part of the same family. 03 July 1999 U P D A T E : The 1850 Rapides Parish census lists Littleton Vickrey's widow (now remarried) with Littleton's children which places his death between 1844-1850. The 1860 census lists two of his sons John and Thomas who remained in Rapides Parish. That information is posted at the bottom of this query. I have written to a Louisiana library in search of a will that I hope will exist. Any other information that I may gain will be greatly appreciated.

BRADDY, DYESS, KEMP, MIXON posted by Rhonda on Tuesday, June 15, 1999

Hello, looking for my BRADDY line. They lived in Calcasieu at the turn of the century. The eldest I know of was Sanford Braddy, who was verrrrry old even then. His son, Frank, was my great-grandfather. One of his sons, Lucius, was my grandfather. He and his siblings moved with their mother, Arcola MIXON BRADDY, to the Indian Territory sometime before 1910. I understand Lucius continued to visit his cousins in La. until his death. Can anyone help? They were related to the DYESS and KEMP families, among others. Thank you!
