Jeff HUES (Thomas Jefferson HUGHES) was listed on the Rapides Par. 1880 Census. I believe he was living in the Hineston area. TJ was born Circa 1820 and died in 1910. His wife (2?) was Rachel FOSTER, and their children were: Frances, who m. Jessee MUSSELWHITE; William P. who m. Mary Ella SIRMAN Thomas E. who m. Sophronia ODOM Dr. Arthur Monroe HUGHES, who never married James Russell, who m. Lacrissie BELVIN Maggie, who m. Mid FARRIS Thomas J. HUGHES appears to have had a daughter named Lucy by a first marriage. Rachel had a daughter named Annie Delaney BAILEY, who married a ROBINSON. Annie is reportedly buried near Glenmora. This family had moved to Vernon Parish prior to the 1900 Census. Has anyone out there researched this family? Please!

I am trying to find any info regarding my Grandfather Ed BROWN. Who supposedly was born in Pirate Hill, La. Rapides Parrish. His father was Bob or Robert BROWN and his mother was Sally Avis (MANNING) Brown. He had two brothers Woods and Joe they were both older than him. My grandfather was born August 12, 1870. His mother died in 1884, his father remarried and he ran away from home in 1887 never to return and we know nothing of the family. I have traveled to Louisiana trying to find out more info to no avail, if you have any info I would greatly appreciated it. Thank you - LdyLaBrun@aol.com

I'm researching the THIBODEAUX family. Can someone tell me the location of a place in Rapides Parish (perhaps in the northern section) called "Bayou Boeuf"? Was it a community, or an area defined by the waterway -- or only the bayou itself? Early records indicate that it was "near Kisatchie," but it was said to be in Rapides Parish, not Natchitoches/Sabine Parish. The THIBODEAUX family was there ca 1806- 1809, and probably longer. I am searching for information on a brother and two sisters, Valmore THIBODEAUX (who married Elvira SMITH after 1840), andn his sisters Marie Louise THIBODEAUX (who married Benjamin BILES, who was one of the earliest Anglo-Saxon settlers in the Neutral Strip, by 1809), and Elizabeth THIBODEAUX (who married John MCGARRAHAN). I am glad to share information. Any help is greatly appreciated.
