CLARK, COBB posted by on Saturday, July 29, 2006

My grandfather, Joe/Joseph COBB, married Anna CLARK. They had 3 children named Barney, Arlen (Orlen), and Fannie. Anybody have a date of birth/date of death on Joseph Cobb or Anna Clark? They could have been in one or all of these parishes (Rapides, Natchitoches, Provncal... Louisiana) between 1870s-1920s.

ARCHINARD, YOUNG posted by Rhonda F. Gordon on Friday, November 17, 2006

I am trying to find the birth, baptism, and/or burial record and location of my great, great, great, great grandmother (from Rapides Parish) which is missing from our family tree. Her name was Valentine Pauline ARCHINARD YOUNG: born December 28, 1851 and she died on Wednesday, January 26, 1887 at 8:00 p.m. She was the daughter of Dr. John ARCHINARD of Alexandria, Louisiana (or just Rapides Parish). He was a Planter and maybe a Plantation owner in the early 1800's. She married Zachary Taylor YOUNG, II MD, a physician and planter from Ville Platte, LA on December 20, 1880 and had 4 children. Upon her death in St. Landry parish in 1887, we know her body was taken from St. Landry Parish to Rapides Parish for burial by her family, and that her family was a prominent Catholic family in the area during that day. We also know the Archinard family history showed they owned property in Rapides Parish that may have been donated for a cemetary at one point in time, but we have no other records to trace the Archinard family history and find the cemetery she is resting in. Could you please direct me in my search? I've already contacted the Catholic Church for any information, but records from that time period were destroyed in a Cathedral fire. I've seen the exellent list of burial locations in Alexandria posted on your websites, but I can't access the weblink to see the list of names in the volumes, it is not working. Could you please tell me what historical records may be available from that time period from Rapides Parish that may help me find her; and how to access that weblink? The anniversary of both her marriage to my great, great, great great grandfather, and the anniversary of her death is approaching in December and I’d like to find her grave and pay my respects to her at Christmas time. Any guidance you can give me would be appreciated. I do plan to visit the Alexandria Historical & Geneology Library personally, very soon! Thank you very much for your time. Sincerely,

HENDRICKS, HOGGATT posted by Glynda Ford Ellman on Sunday, February 11, 2007

Want to make a connection with anyone who descends from a R.W. HENDRICKS, listed in 1860 census of Rapides Parish, Pineville LA. R.W. is listed as an Engineer from GA. Others in the home are a person of special interest to me, Nancy HOGGATT, age 26, LA. and 2 children, probably Hoggatts, Talbot 2 and Lucy 6/12. Want to find out the connection between this Hendricks man and the Hoggatt woman. Also in Pineville is a Lucy HOGGATT, age 67, of S.C. and Phillip C. HOGGATT. I am looking for my great-grandmother and what Hendricks man she was married to later since she has 2 Hendricks children, Lee Roy and Francis K. or Fannie. Will share what I do have on my families but cannot help with identity of this family until I research it more. One other clue is there is a Rufus HENDRICKS, who died in Sebastian County AR. in 1869 and he would be the same age as this R.W. listed above. Any help with finding the identity of these people greatly appreciated.!
