BAILEY, BELVIN, FARRIS, FOSTER, HUES, HUGHES, JEFFERSON, MUSSELWHITE, ODOM, SIRMAN, TEMPLETON, THOMAS posted by William Hughes on Wednesday, December 16, 1998

Jeff "HUES" was shown living in Rapides Parish on the 1880 Census. Thomas Jefferson HUGHES died in Vernon Parish, LA 1910. He was born between 1820 and 1833. He had a daughter named Lucy, born circa 1862 presumably from a 1st marriage. He married my great grandmother, Rachel BAILEY, nee FOSTER, August 1867 in Sugartown, LA. They had the following children: Frances M. who m. Jessie MUSSELWHITE William P. who m. Mary Ella SIRMAN Thomas E. who m. Saphronia ODOM A. Monroe, who was a MD and never married James Russell who m. Lacrissie BELVIN Maggie who m. Mid FARRIS TJ's actual birth place, names of parents and siblings is unknown. Birth location shown in the Census is contradictory. First documentation of THOMAS JEFFERSON HUGHES was his enlistment in the Confederate Army in Little Rock, AR August, 1861. Supposedly he had a brother named "John," and a sister who married TEMPLETON. Indications have been that TJ was of Southern heritage; however if you have a missing acorn from your family tree with his "moniker" please let me
